As the fireworks fade and the confetti settles on the floor, we find ourselves standing at the threshold of a brand new chapter. Welcome to 2026.
There is something distinctly different about this year. If 2025 was a year of rapid transition—of trying to keep our footing in a world moving at breakneck speed—2026 feels like the year we finally plant our feet. It feels like a deep breath after a long sprint.
Here are my thoughts, wishes, and intentions as we step into these next 365 days.
1. Moving from “More” to “Better”
For a long time, the collective resolution was always about volume. Read more books, visit more countries, earn more money. But as we enter the latter half of the 2020s, the shift is palpable.
My wish for you in 2026 is depth.
- Instead of 50 shallow connections, may you find 3 deep, unwavering friendships.
- Instead of decluttering just to buy more, may you find peace in what you already own.
- Instead of filling every second of silence with digital noise, may you learn to love the quiet.
2. A Wish for Radical Presence
We are living in the age of the algorithm. It knows what we want before we do. But it cannot replace the feeling of sun on your face, the texture of a paper book, or the sound of a loved one laughing in the same room.
In 2026, let’s make a pact to be radically present. Let’s try to look up more than we look down. Let’s protect our attention span as if it were our most valuable currency—because it is.
3. The Courage to be a Beginner
As we get older, we often lose the bravery required to be bad at something. We stick to what we know.
This year, I hope you find the courage to be a beginner again. Pick up that instrument you’re afraid to play. Learn the language that twists your tongue. Write the story you think is “silly.” Growth doesn’t happen in the comfort zone, and 2026 is the perfect time to stretch.
Note to self: You do not need to have it all figured out by January 1st. The magic is in the unfolding.
My Mantra for 2026
If I had to sum up my hope for this year in a single phrase, it would be this:
“Soft heart, strong back.”
May we be soft enough to let the beauty of the world in, to empathize, and to love deeply. But may we also have the strength to set boundaries, to stand up for what is right, and to endure the challenges that will inevitably come.
Let’s Begin
Whether you are starting this year with a clear roadmap or just a vague feeling of hope, know that you are exactly where you need to be. The past is a lesson, the future is a mystery, but today is yours to shape.
Here’s to the adventures waiting for us. Here’s to the mistakes we will learn from. Here’s to 2026.
Happy New Year, friends. Let’s make it count.
